being healthy

I've spent most of my life overweight. Not grossly overweight, but I've been about 30 pounds over my healthy weight for as long as I can remember. I've always planned on losing it, or rather, I've always told myself I would. The actual planning phase hasn't gone as well as the telling part.

Today, this all changes. Call it a resolution, call it a plan. I'm sticking to it this time, and you'll be my witnesses. If I'm still over 200 pounds come springtime, put a lock on my fridge door. This is your authorization.

Steps to fix this include scheduling gym time 3-4 times per week to assure adherence. Planning the days in advance makes it easier to stick to.

Second, eating better. I've long been a junkfood addict. Fast food, candy, deep fried anything. Harvard recently released a healthy eating guide not funded by any food lobbies. Unsuprisingly, it looks fairly different from the food pyramid we grew up with, and even from the new MyPlate USDA guidelines. Most notable, dairy is completely absent from the recommended intake. To quote the article "there is little evidence that high dairy intake protects against osteoporosis but substantial evidence that high intake can be harmful", Check out the link below, and make some changes in your life too.
